After last year’s welcome barrage of creative output from Jack White and his new record label/store/studio, Third Man Records, even just a week or two without a new project announcement from the White Stripes/Dead Weather/Raconteurs star feels eerily quiet. Well, it looks like that is about to change.
Though we’re still waiting on the new album announcement from the Dead Weather (not to mention some White Stripes news), White has a brand new band and music video to hype in the meantime. As previously reported, the first release from mysterious all-female rock group The Black Belles, whom White “discovered” is set for January 26 (tomorrow!), as well as Wanda Jackson’s Jack White-produced cover of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good.” In celebration of the former act’s first single “What Can I Do?”, White has made the follow-up to his music video directorial debut (the Dead Weather’s “I Cut Like a Buffalo”).
The full new “What Can I Do?” video is still on the way, but a teaser trailer/song snippet has been posted on the Third Man site to build anticipation in the meantime, and, let’s just say, it works.
