As anyone who’s seen the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie En Rose can attest to, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard definitely has vocal chops exceeding those of your average A-list actress. In light of that, it’s a huge relief that Alex Kapranos and company are collaborating with Cotillard instead of another of her recent Nine costars. (Actually, Daniel Day-Lewis would’ve been cool too.)
Cotillard has signed on to not only be the face of Dior’s “Lady Dior” handbag line, but also the singing voice of “Lady Rouge” in a series of advertisements featuring music written and performed by Franz Ferdinand.
The first song from the series, which we presume has more tunes on the way, is available to stream right now (via NME) on the official Dior site. Stream Marion Cotillard and Franz Ferdinand’s “The Eyes of Mars” here.
