This isn’t a big screen adaptation of that Star Wars musical we mentioned (thank God), but I’m still not so sure George Lucas fans will be rallying behind this one. Heat Vision reports that pre-production has begun on Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in California for a top secret computer-animated musical.
The film, which is being directed by Kevin Munroe (TMNT, yup that Ninja Turtles movie) and penned by Elf/Spiderwick Chronicles screenwriter David Berenbaum, will “feature music from a variety of sources” and “fairies.”
That’s all that has leaked so far… oh, and it will almost definitely by 3D, of course. (James Cameron and Avatar pretty much guaranteed that all blockbusters will no longer be 2D this week.) Either way, I kind of prefer cartoon musicals (Dumbo, et al.), and who knows, perhaps Robert Smith will want to get in on this.
