Okay, let’s pull a few notable news bits from the queue…
- Neil Young was named the MusiCares Person of the Year last night at a Recording Academy charity event in LA, which included tribute performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers (with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer), Dave Matthews, Neko Case, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, Elton John, and many other artists. Based on reviews and a few tweets from inside the event, the consensus seems to be that Wilco stole the show with a faithful (and teleprompter-less) rendition of “Broken Arrow.” Check out a solid review here and watch video interviews from Costello, Matthews, and others here.
- Yvonne Prinz, co-founder to our favorite record store (which happens to be down the street), Amoeba Records, revealed to the LA Times that the shop will be launching a digital download store later this year.
- Kathleen Judge, the artist behind Neko Case’s posters, live show video projections, and Paste’s number one album cover of the decade, is selling signed silk-screen posters for Haitian relief efforts. Go here to buy/donate.
