Assuming you’ve heard about the Bowie tribute album, a sad number of musician deaths, and the Elvis Costello/Neko Case-starring Stephen King musical, you’ve pretty much got the scoop on the holiday break music news. Now for a few bits, which should—at the very least—forewarn of a bit storm to come…
- A new Michael Jackson song leaked on YouTube, allegedly featuring Lenny Kravitz and (allegedly!) called “Another Day.”
- Vampire Weekend’s entire new album, Contra, is streaming on MySpace.
- A weird Van Morrison love triangle/web hacker/Maury Povich story is circulating. Who knows, perhaps we’ll see Van do the “You’re not the father [Moon]dance” at some point. Sorry, but I couldn’t resist.
- Kanye’s back, people. He’s blogging, caps locking, and plotting a ‘10 transition from rapper to singer to poet: “WE WILL FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MAYA ANGELOU, GILL SCOTT HERRON AND NINA SIMONE.”
