Will Oldham, aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, will be presenting “a hand-picked double feature of films that explore the wonder and the mystery of the fairer sex” at the Silent Movie Theatre in Los Angeles next Thursday night in conjunction with The Cinefamily.
Though Billy will not be peforming music, he will appear in person and presumably introduce the two films he curated for the event, which is being billed as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy presents “Ladies’ Night”: A Woman’s Secret shown with Alice In The Cities.
The former, A Woman’s Secret, is a Maureen O’Hara-starring film noir from 1949 in which a singer is accused of shooting one of her students. Alice In The Cities (Alice in den Städte) is the first of Wim Wenders’ so-called “Road Movie Trilogy” from the mid-1970, starring Yella Röttlander as a young girl traveling around Europe in the temporary custody of a reporter, played by Rüdiger Vogler.
