Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo has been discharged from an upstate New York hospital less than a week after his tour bus careened off the New York State Thruway, injuring the singer with a punctured lung, cracked ribs, and various minor injuries. In an update posted to the official Weezer site (via Pitchfork), band friend Karl Koch announced that Cuomo was discharged yesterday “after walking with and without a cane and getting some good hematocrit blood test results.” They spent one more night at the hospital to rest, but set out today on a cross country bus trip back home to Los Angeles.
“Why of all things would he get on a bus now?” Koch rhetorically asks. “Well, one of the strict doctors orders is that Rivers cannot get on an airplane for a month, as the air pressure changes would be bad for his healing punctured lung.”
