If you’re familiar with any of the illustrations on Decemberists albums, posters, t-shirts, or Colin Meloy solo records, then you’ve already gotten a taste of Carson Ellis’ work.
Ellis is Meloy’s wife, Decemberists collaborator, and soon-to-be co-author of a children’s book, which the pair have been working on for quite a few years.
In a recent blog post (via Paste), Ellis dropped the news that the children’s book they’ve been talking about since at least 2006 has gone to the printers and “its completion seems to be on the horizon.” The letterpress-printed book is called The Unfortunate Demise of Whitley Rackham and was penned by Meloy with Ellis providing all of the illustrations.
That’s all we know for now, but she did give us a teaser illustration to help us bide our time until the official release date. Check it out here or below:
