There’s a lot of feigned Jack White veneration going around these days because—let’s face it—the guy’s an intriguing ball of energy off whom we can’t keep our eyes. But he’s also a traffic-grabbing headline machine with a host of killer promo pics just begging to be used as proverbial Christmas lights on some kid’s suspiciously festive music blog.
Why then don’t we hear much about the other artists from the Third Man crew? After all, his wife, Karen Elson, has a record out too and Jack’s been more than open about his penchant for ripping off current labelmate Dex Romweber (see below). Oh wells… Trent Reznor’s endorsement of Saul Williams never caught on as it should have either.
Let’s start some “Good Shit” parades anyway: here are a few other artists from the Third Man Records roster with Jack White-produced singles available to stream. We’re talkin’ all-analog, ribbon-miked, inspired performances recorded straight to 2 inch tape! (Perhaps that only gets me excited.)
Rachelle Garniez probably drifted onto Jack White’s radar while performing with The Citizen’s Band, “a sexy, raucous, collaborative cabaret troupe” from NYC that counts the current Mrs. White among its alumni.
So what if Amanda Palmer and Regina Spektor had a baby? Simmer down, kids, and check out Garniez‘s single below (plenty o’ Jack on the drums at the 2 min. mark):

If you ever want to know where the White Stripes got their inspiration, just drop by good ol’ YouTube for this vintage Flat Duo Jets video. Mhmmm.
Jack White has been very open about his borrowing from the Dex Romweber Duo over the years and now he’s paying him back. Listen to Dex and (his sister) Sara Romweber with JW on the saw right here:

It’s well known that Jack White’s wife, Karen Elson, is a former supermodel, but she’s also been a singer since the days before meeting her hyper husband. Now Third Man still claims the “mysterious goth milquetoast ‘Mildred’ appeared before Jack White at a hardware store in Kentucky,” but the rest of us know that the British, almost 6-foot model appeared before Jack on the set of the “Blue Orchid” video. Oh, Third Man, you sure are good at lying creating a mythology. Check out Mildred and the Mice thataway:
