Dr. Dre’s allegedly epic Detox album will be huge if he actually pulls it off, but the timeline for the end of its recording sessions and subsequent release is still so far up in the air I’m getting worried it will be the hip-hop equivalent to Axl’s Chinese Democracy. Either way, its epic potential just went up a notch, as Dre has now publicly invited Jay-Z to join Detox’s awesome list of collaborators.
“Well, actually, Jay-Z’s just been in the studio doing some writing,” Dre told MTV. “Hopefully I’ll get him to perform on the record. Jay, come holler!”
Nas, R. Kelly, and Ice Cube are already on the album. And Ludacris claims he is among a group of Detox’s ghostwriters, which reportedly includes Drake, T.I., and Lil Wayne.
Come on, Hova! If you record with Dre, I’m sure we can make room for one more supergroup.
