Regina Spektor’s latest album Far has only been out since June, but the singer/songwriter is already planning her next move. Spektor has been tapped to write music for an upcoming Broadway-aimed musical called Beauty, Playbill reports. The musical, a newer version of fairy tale classic Sleeping Beauty, will be written and directed by Tina Landau, while Spektor will collaborate with Grey Gardens lyricist Michael Korie on the songs.
Personally, I think this is a great move for Spektor, though it’s awfully similar to a move made by another former anti-folker.
Meanwhile, Spektor probably won’t have much time to collaborate in NYC until next year, as she’ll be on tour with her last date falling just before Christmas in Zürich.
