For once The Sun didn’t even need to invent a story, as Tori Amos granted them an exclusive interview with quite a few choice quotes. What really caught my eye (and possibly yours, if you read my headline) is that Amos chose to compare Lady Gaga to the Godfather of Grunge:
“She’s what I call a meteor – singers who entertain people for a while,” Amos said of Lady Gaga. “Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
“But then there are people like Neil Young who show up at Glastonbury 40 years into their career. And that’s a very different kind of artist. Neil Young doesn’t have to get his bum out on stage!”
Amos goes on to praise Gaga for bringing the public the kind of non-cerebral entertainment that harsh economic times demand, but at this point I’m just trying to shake the image of Neil Young in a leotard from my memory. Thanks for that, Tori.
