Now that the summer’s almost over, I’m noticing a handful of bands and musicians have started scrambling to get their long-rumored books, DVDs, and whatnots shrink-wrapped and ready for the holiday shopping season. Sure, the Beatles appear to be making a go at ending the recession in one fell swoop, but other notable merch from the likes of Tom Waits, Anton Corbijn, Bob Dylan, and now Glenn Danzig will also be hitting the shelves this fall.
Danzig’s official site finally announced yesterday an upcoming release of the long-awaited “Danzig Lyric Book,” which features illustrations by longtime cohort and album cover artist Simon Bisley. Check out the cover above or click here for Bisley’s illustration to the song “When Death Had No Name.” Haven’t seen the actual book yet, but it looks to me like a kind of William Blake meets Hot Topic deal.
The book will drop on an undisclosed date in December ’09 at “Indy Record Stores,” select comic shops, and online. One can only hope that Danzig will preview his new evil coffee table book via shirtless YouTube again.
You can’t really tell how surprisingly short Danzig is in that hilarious video, but if you want to check out his stature in person, catch a rare live performance, and get a taste of Danzig’s “awesome supernatural powers,” he also confirmed a festival date on November 8th at the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas.
Between the book, festival gig, album in progress, and Ryan Adams shout-outs, it looks like we’ve got a big Danzig comeback on the way.
