Numerous rumors about Thom Yorke’s possible involvement in scoring various films or contributing to a soundtrack have been floating around recently and none have turned out to be true. This one, however, has now been confirmed by the film’s director: Radiohead’s frontman is interested in supplying music to New Moon, the second film in the blockbuster Twilight saga.
“Fortunately, I’m not at the stage where I have to turn anybody down yet, because everything is still kind of up in the air, but I am surprised at some of the bands that have said they’re interested,” director Chris Weitz told Rotten Tomatoes. “It’s kind of great. The criterion will still always be what’s right for the movie at that given moment, but Thom Yorke is interested; we might, if we’re very lucky, get Kings of Leon to do something… it’s exciting to be able to have access to this kind of talent.”
This isn’t the first time Yorke has given the Twilight series the okay; Radiohead’s “15 Step” played during the closing credits of the first film. Now if Yorke decides to entertain Daniel Radcliffe’s suggestion that Radiohead could score all the Harry Potter films, there could be a big change in demographics at the band’s next concert tour.
