Jack White may have a vendetta with the digital music revolution, but The Dead Weather’s debut album Horehound sure did weather the digital storm this week. A blog post on the Dead Weather’s site (via kibbe) reveals their record charted as the #2 Overall Digital Album, #6 Overall Album, #1 Alternative Album, and #2 Rock Album.
Rolling Stone reports that Horehound sold 50,000 copies in its first week, which isn’t bad considering Daughtry, Maxwell, Michael Jackson, and Hannah Montana were their competition.
The Dead Weather’s recent media storm likely played a crucial role in gaining these numbers, but isn’t it amazing what an 8-track recorder can still achieve during the age of Pro Tools?
