Ryan Adams may be taking a “step away” from music to pursue poetry writing and enjoy the married life with wife Mandy Moore, but his (former?) band The Cardinals aren’t going to sit around waiting for Adams to put out the bat signal. All four Cardinals, Neal Casal, Jon Graboff, Chris Feinstein, and Brad Pemberton, have teamed up with New Zealand’s Gin Wigmore for an album and tour.
Wigmore’s debut album Holy Smoke was not only recorded with a well-known backing band, who also jammed with Willie Nelson on his Adams-produced Songbird album, but top producers Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine) and Joe Chiccarelli (White Stripes’ Icky Thump) were also on board, taking on producing and mixing duties respectively.
Check out quotes from Casal, Graboff, and Wigmore in the album’s one sheet here.
