Fans of Ronnie James Dio who were looking forward to a headlining set at Dutch festival Zomerpop will be disappointed to hear that the artist advertised simply as “DIO” is not the metal singer, but actually Diorno Braaf, a Dutch rapper.
In a statement sent to Blabbermouth, Ronnie James Dio’s management said a listing on Pollstar.com and the festival’s website require clarification, as “this is not Ronnie James Dio or anything to do with DIO,” it reads. “This is a trademark name. This is very misleading for the DIO fans.”
Next thing you know, Diorno Braaf’s going to start saying he invented the devil horns.
