In an effort to promote their summer tour with ZZ Top, Aerosmith have a launched a contest billed as “The Aerosmith Opening Act Contest.” Sounds pretty cool, right? Not exactly.
“Time to put your Guitar Hero® skill to the ultimate test,” the announcement reads. “This isn’t your living room couch – its the real deal! Two worthy fans will perform playing Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith® on stage as the opening act before the show roars onto the stage.” That’s the real deal?
“If that taste of rock stardom weren’t reward enough,” the finer print continues, “the winner from each city also wins two tickets to the show, a Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game pack, and a personal congrats from Steven Tyler and Joe Perry before the show! (For the winner only, not their guest)” Sorry, “guest,” only Guitar Hero masters get to meet the talent. I suggest you blow off your friend’s meet ‘n greet to go hang with Billy and Dusty.
What’s more, Aerosmith announced the video of you playing Guitar Hero for 20,000 people will be posted on their YouTube channel, adding, “let your friends try to top that!”
