Kanye West has always been pretentious, but now that South Park has forced him to work on his humility, he’s not quite sure what to do with all his bottled up self-praise. In a blog today, he started out by applauding a paparazzi photograph of Rihanna (in the same week he pled not guilty to assaulting a photographer), but Kanye then turned his attention to fellow music stars and made a few interesting comparisons:
I LOOK AT OUR CURRENT SUPERSTARS LIKE LEGENDS IN THE MAKING… LIKE JUSTIN IS THE NEW MIKE , BEYONCE’S THE NEW TINA TURNER, GAGA’S MADONNA, JAY IS SINATRA… WAYNE IS HENDRIX, THOM YORKE IS ROGER WATERS, THESE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND SHOULD BE DOCUMENTED AS SUCH. THAT SAID, IT WOULD BE DOPE IF THE PAPS OPERATED WITH THE SAME INTEGRITY AND ATTENTION TO THEIR CRAFT AS THE LEGENDS THEY PHOTOGRAPH…..
I’m not so sure even Lil Wayne would be comfortable being called Hendrix and anyone would feel weird about being called the new Michael Jackson, but the rest of his analogies seem fair enough.
