Here are some bits of news we haven’t mentioned yet today:
Major record labels have been struggling to figure out a way to benefit from YouTube without actually giving users free reign over the music they own. Today, UMG CEO Doug Morris announced they have partnered with YouTube to offer their own video site called VEVO. It sounds kind of like Hulu for music. Check out his full email over at The Daily Swarm.
Stevie Nicks says she rejects all digital media, including computers, email, cell phones and CDs. She does own an iPod, though. Read more of her somewhat crotchety interview at the Huffington Post (via AP).
Digg’s Kevin Rose landed a lengthy interview with Trent Reznor to talk about the music industry, the guilty pleasures on his iPod and his advice to bands just starting out. For more on how Trent, as HRO would say, ‘gets it,’ click here.
When recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Womack got a call from the Gorillaz, he’d never heard of them. “I worked with a lot of people, but I never worked with a gorilla,” he said. Fortunately, his daughter convinced him they’re not actual animals and kind of a big deal. The full story from RS is thataway.
