A Crystal Castles show was canceled at 10pm last night at the Granada Theater in Dallas, TX. Now the band and management for the club are in a war of words over the circumstances behind the aborted gig.
Brooklyn Vegan reports (HT Matt Morrell) the band’s manager released a statement about the incident that reads: “After witnessing the CC soundcheck, the owner of the club was afraid that CC would ‘blow up the soundsystem’ and the show was cancelled, after three hours of arguing.”
The Granada, however, released much longer play-by-play of said “arguing” and accused Crystal Castles of being “Pre-madonnas.” According to the club, the band could have taken issue with their sound system earlier in the day, but chose to insist that more equipment be brought in to correct issues they had with the kick drum sound at 7pm, long after rental places have closed.
“Why would any band crap on their fans like this?” Granada’s Mike Schoder wrote. “Insecurity is a cancer. Love yourself. Love your sound guy and the system at the club you are playing.”
