This month’s Blender magazine with Kelly Clarkson on the cover will be their last. Ad Age reports (via The Daily Swarm) Alpha Media Group, owners of Blender and Maxim, have laid off Blender’s 30 employees today and closed the magazine.
“Since 2001, Blender has provided unmatched music coverage and entertainment news in its unique voice to a profoundly dedicated audience of music enthusiasts,” Alpha CEO Steven Duggan wrote in a memo. “We are particularly grateful to the sales team and to the tremendously talented editorial staff for their hard work and commitment to Blender.”
The magazine’s ownership has changed hands a few times over the past couple years, causing a number of major changes to their publications, including the closing of Stuff magazine back in 2007. Duggan said the current economic crisis caused a drop in ad revenues, forcing Blender to close up shop.
