When Phish made their triumphant return to the stage last weekend in Hampton, Virginia, police arrested 194 fans. The arrests, which were for mostly drug possession, use and distribution, resulted in $1.2 million in confiscated illegal drugs, as well as $68,000 in cash, MSNBC reports.
The 3-night stand at the Hampton Coliseum, which marked the end to a 5-year hiatus for the band, was expected to draw up to 75,000 fans to the city, so Phish paid for the excess cost of keeping an additional 200 police officers on duty for the weekend event.
That comes to $6,000 worth of confiscated drugs per cop.
