A story reported by Britain’s Mirror that the Stone Roses are slated for a 21-city reunion tour to go along with their forthcoming reissue albums has gained traction in the more mainstream press over the past 24 hours, including reports from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME and many more. Frontman Ian Brown’s publicist has now denied the story, however, cofirming some doubts expressed in many of the news reports that only half-bit the tabloid bait.
“We know nothing about a reunion,” Brown’s publicist told NME. “Ian is working on his new studio album which is due out later this year.” Add this official statement with some major scheduling conflicts exposed on a Stone Roses fan site (via P4K) and it looks like we’ve got a false alarm on our hands.
