The White Stripes are returning to the stage for the first time since they abruptly canceled their summer 2007 tour. The gig? The final episode of Late Night with Conan O’brien on February 20th. That’s next Friday, people!
Conan O’Brien is leaving his longtime stint as host of Late Night to replace Jay Leno on The Tonight Show. As Pitchfork notes, the White Stripes have a long history with Conan, appearing on every episode for a week back in 2003 and tapping Conan for an appearance in their Gondry-directed video for “The Denial Twist” in 2005.
Jack White has been busy working with The Raconteurs, ever since the White Stripes had to call off their tour due to medical issues, and Meg White recently offered up her drum set to raise funds for Detroit’s Jim Shaw.
