Many parents of students at Hampton, Virginia’s Burbank Elementary are outraged because the school’s physical education teacher David Taub promotes his rap career on MySpace with videos depicting drug use and violence.
“I was shocked. The teacher was using n word and F word and appeared to be smoking something,” said Tracy Carr told WVEC News. “He’s supposed to be a role model, and to see him using that language saddens me, upsets me. I don’t want my son seeing that.”
Last summer, Taub, aka D.T. The Great, gave in to pressure from the school system to take the videos down, but recently they’ve been added back to his MySpace page. This time around, however, the school does not plan to take issue. Their lawyers and human resources department reviewed Taub’s MySpace and spokesperson Ann Stephens said, “It was all agreed there is nothing illegal or inappropriate to the work he does in Hampton City Schools.”
