Ron Strykert, the founding guitarist for the 1980s Australian band Men at Work, was arrested on Valentines Day on suspicion of making criminal threats. He allegedly threatened the current residents of his former Hollywood home, TMZ reports.
Strykert posted on his Myspace less than 24 hours before the alleged incident, promoting his forthcoming album Paradise. He signed the post: “Mystery Man, working enigma, And don’t eat American Peanut Butter. Ron Strykert.” LAPD said he is still in prison, being held on $50 bail.
Men at Work disbanded in 1986, but reunited 10 years later only to break up again in 2001. They have sold about 30 million records worldwide, mostly due to the popularity of their 1983 hit “Down Under.”
****Update: Strykert was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Colin Hay, the former singer of Men at Work, in December 2007.
