When we reported yesterday that J.D. Fortune, the winner of reality show Rock Star: INXS, was now broke and homeless, many fans were shocked and didn’t even know he had been fired from the band. There’s one fellow “Rockstar” who understands his plight and has offered to put a roof over Fortune’s head: Lukas Rossi.
Rossi was the winner of the 2006’s Rock Star: Supernova, the follow-up to the show Fortune won the previous year. “Holy sh*t it’s amazing how similar jd and I are .. Television rockstars my ass!!” Rossi wrote on his blog. “I just watched the etCanada interview and am appauled by how inxs has treated him … Been there done that . He devoted his life to helping a washed up band try and revive themselves by choosing a young talented singer … I must say it is not easy to go from nothing to superstardom in a few months.”
It isn’t only the instant stardom that Rossi can identify with; Fortune’s drug addictions and feeling of rejection were also part of Rossi’s post Rock Star experience. “I also went through substance abuse and almost lost everything,” he continues. “If not for the amazing fans and my loving wife I would be nolonger. It is very easy to ignore a dove with a wounded wing in a flock of soaring eagles…I wonder if ‘those people’ were ever “dicarded” when they needed love or a shoulder.”
Rossi ends his post by lending more than pity to Fortune’s desperate situation; he offers Fortune, who is currently living in his pickup truck, shelter from the storm: “well jd if you are out there I have a place in California and you are always welcome-and that’s an open invite!”
