Writer/director John Sayles is reportedly writing an HBO series based on Anthony Kiedis’ relationship with his father in the 1970s. The show is tentatively titled, after Kiedis’ autobiography, Scar Tissue.
Marc Abrams, one of the show’s producers, told Variety, “John [Sayles] writes from a real human place, and has already tapped into the relationship between young Anthony and his dad.” Kiedis’ father John, aka Spider, sold drugs on the Sunset Strip in the 1970s. His past clients supposedly included the likes of Led Zeppelin and the Who.
Sayles is best known for making Silver City, Lone Star, and directing a 17-year-old Will Oldham (Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy) in 1987’s Matewan.
