While celebrating the 53rd birthday of his band mate Toca Rivera, singer/songwriter Jason Mraz joined a rally for the legalization of marijuana in Harajuku, Tokyo.
“Here’s a look at the rally we quickly became a part of,” Mraz wrote on his MySpace blog, accompanied by a collection of photos from the event (see photo above). In one shot, Mraz is seen holding a sign that reads, “FREE THE WEED,” while surrounded by other green and yellow protest signs that are mostly written in Japanese.
The event, Mraz said, was perfectly fitting for his djembe player. “[Rivera] was swept away by perhaps the most perfect parade for his character,” he wrote. “If anyone’s birthday wish ever came true so quickly after blowing out his candles, it would be Toca’s.”
