Emma Sophina, an Australian singer/songwriter and one of the 155 survivors of US Airways Flight 1549’s crash landing in the Hudson River last month, has released a new single on iTunes in tribute to the hero pilot, Capt. Chesley Sullenberger.
The song, “Send Another Prayer,” was written in the days following the crash when Sophina was stranded in the U.S. because her passport and possessions were lost in the crash. She says on her MySpace page that all she had left was the phone number for a producer she planned to work with, so she began work on her musical reaction to the traumatic event immediately.
“If it wasn’t for the graceful Sully, I wouldn’t be here talking to you today,” Sophina told New York Daily News days after the crash. “He gave us such a graceful landing under such terrible conditions… I really do feel inspired. I’m going to write a song about this called, ‘My Life in the Bottom of the Hudson River.’”
Well she didn’t name it that, but her tribute song, “Send Another Prayer,” can be streamed on MySpace here or purchased on iTunes.
