Attorneys for the Dixie Chicks have convinced a judge to move a lawsuit filed against them by Terry Hobbs from state court to federal court after arguing that because the parties are from different states and damages sought could exceed $75k, federal jurisdiction applies to the case.
WXVT reports Hobbs’ lawsuit focuses on singer Natalie Maines, stating he was defamed when she alleged that Hobbs was involved in the killing of three boys, including his own stepson, in West Memphis fifteen years ago. Three men have been convicted of the murder, but Maines contends there is DNA evidence exonerating them.
