LA Weekly reports that while CD sales took a nosedive last year, vinyl sales went up 89 percent and took Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane over the Sea up with the current. The 1998 Pitchfork 10.0-rated album broke the top 10 for last year’s Nielson Soundscan top vinyl sellers.
A few other classic albums made the list, such as The Beatles’ Abbey Road and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Radiohead landed their most recent album, In Rainbows, in the number one spot.
Neutral Milk Hotel has been on hiatus ever since Aeroplane came out 10 years ago.
