Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler was relieved to hear the band wasn’t nominated for a Grammy Award this year after having had a really bad time the last two years he attended, when he was forced to eat $70 hot dogs.
“We went to the Grammys and it was so s**t,” Butler said (via PR Inside). “You go to this venue, like a conference centre, at about 10 in the morning, and it’s totally dry – no food, water, alcohol.” Would somebody give this man a beer and a doughnut!
In 2006, Arcade Fire’s Funeral was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album and in 2008, their follow-up, Neon Bible, got the nod for the same award. They lost to The White Stripes both years, going home empty-handed and apparently hungry.
“No one’s eaten all day, and there are people in tuxedos offering $70 for a hotdog,” Butler continued. “It’s a total crush of humanity trying to get hotdogs. It was a horrifying experience.”
