In a video interview with empireonline.com, Twilight’s Kristen Stewart talks about finally being allowed to discuss her once-secretive role as Joan Jett in the upcoming film, The Runaways. She told Empire,
“It’s so exciting that I can even talk about it now, because I haven’t been allowed to for a really long time. It’s about the forming and death of this band [The Runaways], and it launched Joan Jett’s career and she became the icon for females in rock and roll. It’s an absolutely insane concept for me to even think that I’m going to play her, but apparently I got the job so I’m going to give it all I’ve got.”
When asked about her favorite music she mentions The Beatles, with a faux Liverpool accent, and talks about her co-star Robert Pattinson’s love for Van Morrison. “He’s obsessed with Van Morrison. He lives for that man, so subsequently I’m caught up in that as well.”
Indeed, Pattinson’s iTunes playlist lists a Morrison song, describing him as “such a visionary and unique take on what structure in songwriting is, what singing is, and what can be achieved emotionally and spiritually through music.”
