Led Zeppelin’s former bassist and rumored member of Jimmy Page’s reunion tour, John Paul Jones, composer Takehisa Kosugi, and Sonic Youth have whipped up a song for a tribute to the founder of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. The concert will run from April 16-19th in Brooklyn.
The Guardian reports the concert “will honour the 90th birthday of choreographer Merce Cunningham, ‘whose radical approaches to space, time, and technology continue to redefine the way we experience dance,’ the press release boasts. A long-running collaborator of John Cage’s, Cunningham was also the composer’s life partner until his death in 1992.”
Cunningham’s dance company also inspired a 2003 collaboration between Radiohead and Sigur Rós. More from The Guardian here.
