Who needs radio when you can promote your new single on a nationally televised New Year’s Day halftime show for millions of college football fans? Avenged Sevenfold’s pseudo metal hit single “Almost Easy” will be performed by the USC Trojans Marching Band on January 1st.
I’m assuming the performance will be a solely instrumental affair, as some of the lyrics might ‘cause some wardrobe malfunction-esque uproar. Here’s one verse: “I left you bound and tied with suicidal memories/Selfish beneath the skin/But deep inside I’m not insane.”
USC’s marching band tested out their new hard rock repertoire at a game against Stanford a month ago, but now the song will be reaching a much wider audience and will likely spawn a new major label marketing scheme: Marching Band Payola.
