While Josh Ritter prepares for the May release of his forthcoming 7th LP, So Runs the World Away, the Idaho raised singer/songwriter and novelist has been previewing new songs for fans on a sprawling tour of Ireland and America this spring. And now for a story that is sure to make every struggling up-and-coming musician very jealous: At one so-called “secret show” at the intimate Asbury Park venue The Saint last Thursday, New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen stopped by for a preview of Ritter’s new tunes as well.
After the show was over, Bruce said hello to some fans before exiting into the band’s dressing room; after half an hour, Bruce and Josh headed outside. With a wave of his hand, Springsteen beckoned Ritter to climb into his car, and they drove off into the New Jersey night.
