Reacting to a leaked report about a forthcoming book in the works by David Bowie, his official website has confirmed the news and offered up a few intriguing details about the ongoing project. Featuring pictorial content “annotated with insightful, witty and personal text written by Bowie himself,” Bowie: Object is described as “a collection of pieces from the Bowie archive, wherein, for the first time, fans and all those interested in popular culture will have the opportunity to understand more about the Bowie creative process and his impact on modern popular music.”
Specifically, 100 “objects” will appear in the work, possibly including the above scan of a 35mm Kirlian (high-voltage electric field) photograph taken by Bowie in 1975, which was originally featured in the program to his 1976 Station To Station tour. No publishing date has been set and more details are still under wraps, but Bowie has just given Tom Waits’ coffee table book some stiff competition, I’d say.
