Queens of the Stone Age: My God is the Sun

Queens of the Stone Age God is the Sun

April 1, 2013

Queens of the Stone Age unleashed a first possible preview of their forthcoming LP over the weekend at Lollapalooza Brasil. “It’s called ‘My God is the Sun'” announced Josh Homme before asking for permission to debut the cut from a sea of festival fans. The group’s first record in 6 years, …Like Clockwork, features a host of notable guest players, including Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, Elton John, Trent Reznor, and Dave Grohl, among others. None of those names turned up at the São Paulo gig, of course, but Jon Theodore of the Mars Volta did take the reins behind the drum kit. As if those names hadn’t piqued interest enough, even this first “My God is the Sun” live take recalls some of the tensely restrained elements of the band’s best work. Judge for yourself with pro-shot footage from the event above.
