On March 16th, Death Grips not only broadcast their set live from SXSW, but members Zach Hill and Stefan Burnett filmed the performance themselves, self-shot with cameras attached to their heads. Yes, you read that right: first-person, official footage from one of the hardest shows to get into in Austin last month. But here’s some good news for those of us who missed the initial broadcast: Death Grips have uploaded the 32-minute gig in full.
The result is a bit disorienting, for sure, but given the band’s frantic sonic signature and off-kilter rhythms, that seems all the more appropriate. Let’s raise a toast to the future (in which hopefully every set can be beamed back home to the rest of us) and watch the concert live from the point of view of the musicians themselves above.
On a side note, the greatest (and most terrifying if you fear heights) first-person video ever might make an interesting follow-up to this Death Grips gig. Enter at your own risk here.
