Video: Divine Fits Debut New Song, Cover “Shivers” @ SXSW

Divine Fits

March 19, 2013

Divine Fits turning in a rousing live take on Rowland S. Howard’s “Shivers” would be notable enough considering the album version made our list of top 2012 cover songs, but the supergroup (featuring Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner, Sam Brown and Alex Fischel) had a lot more than just that up their sleeve in Austin last week: a new song. Is their debut LP, A Thing Called Divine Fits, only the start of what might be a longer term project from these members of Spoon, Wolf Parade, etc.? Perhaps a sophomore set is in the works, as the Dan Boeckner-led new cut sounds fully formed and prepared for the studio treatment.

At first these guys seemed destined to be a one-off side project, but with undeniable chemistry exhibited in the clip below and the ease at which they manage to prepare fresh material for the stage, Divine Fits sound primed and ready to stick around for many years to come. We can only hope they’ll keep the ball rolling.
