SXSW 2013: Dawes Unveil New Material + Stream Their New LP

Dawes

One month before the release of their third LP, Stories Don’t End, L.A. folk-rock outfit Dawes took to Austin with a barrel of new cuts in tow. While both of their previous records are favorites around here, the place this band has always sounded best to these ears is onstage. Take, for example, their new single “From A Window Seat.” It took a bit for this one to sink in when the studio version circulated earlier this year. But hearing the band’s tight-knit live version had us sold in seconds.

It turns out you didn’t have to be there to see/hear what I’m talking about, as folks from the Public Radio Rocks stage shared an official live clip from the band’s set on Friday night. Complete with charming harmonies, a timeless narrative at home in the ’70s or today, and the quartet moving as one (a la Dawes’ most obvious influence, The Band), the above video should pique plenty interest in the new LP — not to mention their previous work if you’re just now catching wind.

*Update: The full 12-track record is now available to stream ahead of its April 9th release. Giving it a spin is highly recommended thataway.
