Yes, you read that right: David Bowie is back with a new record of original songs for the first time in a decade. The Next Day arrives in March, preceded by first single “Where Are We Now?” arriving today, his birthday (and mine, too). Commenting on his absence, the announcement reads:
In recent years radio silence has been broken only by endless speculation, rumor and wishful thinking ….a new record…who would have ever thought it, who’d have ever dreamed it! After all David is the kind of artist who writes and performs what he wants when he wants…when he has something to say as opposed to something to sell. Today he definitely has something to say.
Longtime Bowie producer Tony Visconti helmed the boards for The Next Day, which was written entirely by the Thin White Duke, Ziggy Stardust, himself, et al. and recorded in New York City. Preview some artwork above and the tracklist/single below:
