In a similar spirit to Third Man Records ringleader Jack White, Ryan Adams is getting into the studio-building, record-producing game of late — with his new Pax-Am facility officially making gearheads jealous via these photos and Lemonheads/Jason Isbell collaborations on the horizon. Tonight brings an unexpected collaborative treat: producer/musician Don Was and former Cardinals dobro player Cindy Cashdollar join Adams for “Shining Through the Dark” on Conan. This version splits the difference between the song’s earlier form as a solo-acoustic demo and the full-band track on Judd Apatow’s This Is 40 soundtrack. Can’t wait to hear what he and Haim are cooking up in Hollywood, but for now, let’s watch this trio shine through an unplugged take above.
