With Jenny Lewis’ next solo record and film soundtrack still in production, this new Caitlin Rose track has helped to fill the Rilo Kiley void a bit this week. “No One To Call” is a teaser for Rose’s forthcoming sophomore LP, The Stand-In, in which the Nashville songwriter finds there are plenty of alt-country gems yet to mine out there. What’s more, the Jayhawks’ Gary Louris — some bona fide royalty of the genre — collaborated on a pair of songs for the record. Rose’s debut, Own Side Now, was a promising set, for sure, but this is a mature step forward and a real anticipation-builder for the February 25th release to boot.
